Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of elegance and luxury—take part in the journey to the art parties of the cultural world capitals of the past!
On August 15, 2016, the exhibition hall of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve will host the exhibition of the European costumes and accessories of 1800–1930.
With support from the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve, the Fashion History Museum of Marina Ivanova and the Sheremetievs' Museum will present unique exhibits—ancient clothing and accessories for women, children, and men.
Carefully collected all over Europe, restored and preserved in near-perfect condition, the collection of three museums will immerse guests and visitors of the World Clothing Masterpieces of the 19th–Early 20th Centuries (Wedding Palette) art project into the world of ancient costumes and life of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers.
The exhibition will present a collection of materials from the stock of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical Cultural Preserve—the largest Ukrainian museum complex. In particular, there will be incredible female fan, purse, and handbag, a metal-bound Gospel book, etc. Connoisseurs of the art of the past will not only see the works of artists of the 19th–early 20th centuries, but will also have a chance to understand the complexity and responsibility of work of the professionals of Restoration and Conservation Departments in the Preserve, which is hidden from the eyes of visitors.
The basis of the exposition will be formed by exhibits from a unique collection of Kyiv citizen Marina Ivanova, representing several eras of the European fashion of the 18th–19th centuries. Many exhibits belonged to famous historical figures. Perfect dresses, suits, hats, jewellery, umbrellas and fans, toys, dolls, strollers, Christmas decorations from France, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Belgium, Germany, Poland and other countries will be gathered in one expositional environment thanks to founder of the Fashion History Museum Marina Ivanova, who has for many years been studying the history of fashion. Responsibility for the collected historical monuments and inexhaustible enthusiasm urge the collector to discover the new ways of restoration and conservation of old materials and fabrics. Materials from the Sheremetievs' Museum also successfully complement the exhibition.
As part of the World Clothing Masterpieces of the 19th–Early 20th Centuries (Wedding Palette) exhibition, children can become members of the informative and educational tour into the history of children's fashion, which will be held by the founder of the Fashion History Museum Marina Ivanova.
The exhibition will be open daily from August 16 to December 15, 2016, from 9:00 to 18:00.
