  Themes of lectures/guided tours:

Duration: 3 academic hours

Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery: Historical and Cultural Heritage (upper and lower territory of architectural complex, caves visit): This is our classic tour that touches on some of the key moments in the history of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. During this tour, you will get the opportunity to appreciate masterpieces of Ukrainian masonry and architecture, see magnificent murals and iconostasis inside churches and come in contact with sacral Lavra. This tour has been designed for both visitors to the city and its inhabitants.

Duration: 1 academic hour

Historical and Architectural Landmarks of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra’s Lower Territory: In addition to discovering the various buildings of the lower territory (churches, crypts, caves, defence and commercial buildings, etc.), you will learn about Lavra’s saints, local relics and miracles.

Pages in the History of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (around the exhibition at the Museum of History of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra): The tour takes you through the four museum exhibition halls dedicated to the Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery’s centuries-long history. Unique artefacts are on display in the halls: the elements of the original interior of the thousand-year-old Dormition Cathedral, magnificent vestments worn 300 years ago, early printed books from Lavra’s famous printing press, etc.
Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Caves: History, Archaeology and Necropolis: The underground labyrinth of caves at the Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery is one of the most fascinating landmarks in Kyiv. They served as housing for monks, their final resting place and a pilgrimage destination for believers. You will discover the findings of the archaeological work conducted in the caves that have revealed previously unknown aspects of their history.
The Gate Church of the Trinity through the Ages: A unique church in world history, the Gate Church of the Trinity was built in the 12th century in Kyivan Rus in a strictly Byzantine style. Over five centuries, it transformed into one of the most sumptuous buildings in the Ukrainian Baroque style, the fact that has spurred its inclusion on UNESCO’s world heritage list. Real historical figures, events from the history of the Christian faith, and even animals, birds and inhabitants of the deep waters await you inside the Church with its lavish interiors.
Cathedral of the Dormition: History and Modernity:  The tour will introduce you to  the Cathedral, which can be considered the true heart of the Kiyiv-Pechersk Monastery. The main church has repeatedly suffered from enemy attacks and other types of destruction and yet its various monks and patrons have continued to decorate it with lavish paintings, precious icons and liturgical vestments and jewellery.

Refectory Chamber and ChurchAn Architectural Monument of the Turn of the 20th Century (Structure history, exterior and interior design): The Refectory is unlike most of Lavra’s other churches with its solemn atmosphere. The church and chamber are covered with dark patterns, austere faces of saints and heavenly powers and the dull shimmer of gold lines. This tour is about the unique design of this structure in the predominantly Baroque complex and its creators and inhabitants.
Cathedral of the Dormition Bell Tower (construction history): The highest, greatest, most successful and other superlatives about this unique monument from the 18th century: On the 3rd tier of the bell tower you can view the entire territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the Dnieper river, beautiful landscapes of the Pechersk district and Dnieper’s left bank.
The Oldest Chapels of the Cathedral of the Dormition: St. John the Baptist and St. Stephen Chapels: The Assumption of the Mother of God Cathedral is an ancient, complex and multifaceted monument. Stories and secrets of its oldest sections await you.
Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Necropolis. For many centuries, the Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery was the burial place of prominent secular figures of Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania, Belarus, as well as the  spiritual world of cassocks. You will learn about the life and fate of individuals and entire families.
“Microminiatures of M. Siadrystyi”. Mykola Siadrystyi is a unique artist who has been creating micro-miniatures for more than 40 years. The word “micro-miniature” first appeared in dictionaries in reference to his work. The exhibition displays the smallest book in the world, whose pages are sewn together with spider web, the world's smallest chess board with chess pieces placed on the tips of needles, and others marvels.
